Hello all,
I saw a post awhile back from a user named AlexL saying that he had made a splitter that took one NMEA data stream and split it into four outputs. I would love to have the schematic for that as I would like to build one too. I have looked into buying one, but they are too much money. If AlexL is still around could you please respond to my post.
Thank you all

If you want one NMEA source to go to four NMEA listeners, you may be able to connect them all together. There will be no problems of data clashing (as would happen if you connected four sources to one listener). However, the NMEA source you are using may not have enough oomph to drive four listeners. The only way to find this out is to try it. Add one listener at a time. This is basically what sailorman said, but with a bit of explanation.

If you find that the source cannot drive the number of listeners that you require, then you need a small bit of circuitry that gives the source signal a bit more puff (technical term, that).

Howdy - I have indeed built such a beast and shall turn the circuit diagram into a PDF tonight. If anybody has got some spare web space to upload to file to to make it available to everybody that would be dandy.

It seems to work fine - NMEA in - 4 Isolated NMEA outputs. In theory you should be able to connect up to 4 NMEA listeners to the output of your talker (GPS?) by just wiring them together, but this does not always seem to work, and once you get over 4 which is not difficult - (GPS repeater, autohelm, Radar, DSC Radio........ to name a few) it becomes more unreliable.

I can e-mail the circuit to naybody who wants it, but like I said it would be nice to post it on the web somewhere.

Thank you so much. I can't wait to get the schematic and build one myself.
I look forward to getting the diagram. What is the proper way for me to give you my e-mail address without making it public?
