Twelve Volt cigarette lighter plug supplied battery charger to take AAA, AA batteries. Came with four 2000MampH AA's of type NiMH - 40 euros. Been working regularly over two years.
Supplier in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
I do find various brands of MiMH AA's don;t seem to hold a charge for more than a week.
The shops supplying electronic tat to cruise ship passengers are poor quality, but the rest of the city and the Canaries and peninsular Spain is as good as Great Britain. Spain is not a virtual third world country, although perhaps Great Britain is looking that way.
Doesn't accept ASCII symbols - for the garbage above read milliamp hour.
Other disadvantage, you can't sit on your butt and get the Lidl, you've got to present yourself in person, and after 26th january - I've got better things to do with my time!!!
modern nicads dont have memory problem.. it was decades ago, and the" myth" continues. Unless you have a fairly sophisticated fast charger though, discharging first means the charger is more likely to identify peak charge correctly. Or if you have a trickle charger, you are more likely to charge for the correct time. One advantage of nicads is that they hold the voltage at a more steady, higher level for longer before a fast drop off. Good for some applications.
"Are Lithium Ion batteries available in standard sizes like AA , C or D cell size?
No, Lithium-ion batteries are not available in standard sizes. We believe this is because it would be too easy for users to inadvertently put them in a charger not designed for Lithium-ion batteries creating a potentially dangerous situation. (If an alkaline battery is put into the wrong charger it might leak or even burst, but a lithium-ion battery put into a NiCd or NiMH charger not designed for lithium-ion, might ignite. Also, because Li-ion batteries operate at much higher voltage (typically 3.7V per cell) than the 1.2 to 1.5V of most cell batteries, designing a 1.5V lithium-ion cell would be expensive."
