Mate and I have been to The Netherlands and 'Darn Sarf' looking at a few and other Nimbus and Elling E4's
Plus Storebro's. So that gives an indication as where we are at on this 'Boat Search' thing
It's His dosh, I am just the 'Hanger on Boaty Advisor ' person
With a 'bent' for Nimbus cos I had one
Mate pointed out what could be a serious 'flaw' / snag with a 42 Nova, which I will conceal for now!
Tee Hee!
Anyway Folks
Sorry to tease
Any info will be received with gratitude
Plus the usual Abuse and Banter
Maybe I am biased ref the Nimbus product
'Other' semi displacement type of boat would do, no doubt
'Mate' is on a learning curve by the way
Has a nice Redbay 8,4 RIB at the mo
Needed is a floating Holiday Home fit for purpose to sail the Irish Sea and it's foilbles
IE , it's bloody shallow and has lot's of currents and crap like that
Plus, maybe to use said boat as a Classroom for Instruction and teaching purposes
Cheers Folks

Nimbus nova is not semi displacement
It’s a full planing hull

Yep, you are right Mate
But it will 'displace' as it were, plus 'track' ok at displacement kts
First time I helmed one was in Holland two weeks ago on a Sea Trial, brief but interesting
Seemed a versatile craft
You know, from My History
I'm a bit of a Nimbus fan!
'We' need to punch the Irish Sea tidal range
Flippen up to 8/10 kts here now and again
Elling E4's Max at 16 ish

Lovely boats
Just thinking
For a relative newby
Two access doors, like the Nimbus has, from it's 'wheelhouse' is dead handy for berthing etc for My Chum and His swmbo
Whilst they are on a learning curve with this motorboat Lark

Kwakkers, he cant be a mate and still be taking advice from you, you smooth talking old rogue. Maybe I should be invited into this deal so I can temper your enthusiasm and provide balanced council? :p For starters, does the Nimbus have an adequate fridge. The Irish sea calls for more than just diesel alone you know.

During the Drive through Holland tother week and the trek to Troon last weekend
I gave the benefit of YEARS of experience and knowledge to My Pal
The size of the drinks cabinet
Which make I preferred to have at least 8 optics fitted
How an extra cooler or fridge maybe slotted into a lazerette
Plus I told Him the benefit of where wine racks help ballast and to balance the aesthetics of certain vessels
Generator power had to at least 15 kw
All kinda real important stuff
His mind was wandering unfortunatley
Kept going on about 'range, 'seaworthiness, ease of moving about the vessel
All that kinda stuff
Obviously the driving had got to Him and He wasn't concentrating
Some people
They just don't get it!

You better warn him he will end up Billy No Mates if he rocks up to a anchorage on a dry boat. And another thing. He needs more speed if he's to outpace the raggies in PD to the good anchorages if he's based in Conwy. You cant do nothing if you arrive in an established squatters ghetto but if you get there first a cheap genny, a dummy rope anchor warp and a Kenwood or Alpine on show usually fends them off.
