I've got some new rubber window seal to go between the horizontal alloy retaining strip and the glass on my fairly old Nimbus 29C.
I've had a dry run and the new seal goes in fairly tightly which I'm supposing is sufficient (ie without sealant) .
Between the window panes is a alloy upright part of the frame which goes down to the horizontal alloy strip and trying to get the new strip into the channel around this obstacle is very difficult without damaging/distorting it.
I am thinking I am going to cut the strip between the uprights and just seal with a black sealant around the alloy uprights.
Anybody got any advice on the above and exactly which sealant to use and whether I need to bed the new seal into a product.
What was there previously was made up of a perished black seal with a load of sealant everywhere, and the frame has been bent a bit in places as if with pliers, so don't think it is original
