Hi Ray,

I have not owned either but have spent some time recently researching the 320. I will be interested in their opinions as well. Are you looking at new or second hand. If second hand which model year are they?

Personnaly I think one of the biggest benefits with the 320 is that it can come with the Single screw engine. This means very cheap running costs. I also believe that the Yanmer 230hp gives relatively good performance and that she cruises easily at over 20knots. The fitout seems bullet proof and on the layoiut there is an option of another drop down table in the forecabin.

Cheers

Sorry to report I'd always also assume Nimbus were 'bullet proof' - until a pal purchased a year old 320 in 2005. For whatever reason he did not have it fully surveyed before acquisition.

He told me that 18 months later when surveyed for a trade in to another power yacht, he was staggered to learn the inner 'lining' had separated from the hull mould, and as a result it was rejected by the potential buyer!

Obviously he must have sorted something out with the orginal vendor as he's now got his new boat, but this experience seems to indicates not all of them are as bullet proof as one might be led to believe.

I am just buying a Nimbus 310 (see my other posts on this) and was very impressed when taken out in a friends 320. I was expecting a rough ride but it was soft at around 18 knots until we cut through the wake of a tug off Felixstowe. Then things got very lively! Like you I am a little concerened about a single engine. I am just selling a Hallberg Rassy (yacht) which are renowned for good build quality. The nimbus is good and well thought out but then my experience of motor cruisers is, as yet, nil.

Hi Paul,
Agree with you on running costs, I believe we will be paying £1/ litre soon red or white, was looking at one 2004 and 2003 350 coupe.

I believe they are superb boats and for their size and wieght, excellent sea boats.
They are all built to Det Norske Veritas standard, which is the Scandinavian equivalent to the old Lloyds 100A1 so I am very surprised about the adverse comment below. Perhaps it was actually the surveyor at fault and not the boat?
I am of course totally biased as I own a Nimbus 345 (year 2000 and 500 hrs, with 2 x Yanmar) which happens to be for sale at the moment!
Feel free to email me if you are interested. She is immaculate with blue hull.
