Has anyone got a copy of the 2005 MBM boat test for the Nimbus 340 Commander that they could kindly PM me?

Also, are there any owner's of this boat on the forum that can provide me with their general experiences (good and bad) of this boat, including fuel consumption and handling with the single Volvo D6 engine?

Many thanks in advance.

Allan

Hi are you looking at buying the one at port solent, if so I have recently serviced that boat.

For a rule of thumb around 1.75 to 2 mpg id say.

Yes, that's the one Paul................what's your opinion of the engine conditon and the boat in general? Have you regularly serviced the engine?

Cheers, Allan

Hi yes ive serviced the engine, but no not regularly as he is a new customer, if you want his details if your not going direct I can pass them on to you.

The boats immaculate, the engine bay is the usuall nimbus standard which is of course excellent.

The layout as you view from the large hatch in the floor opens up to reveal all the check points, to work on the engine you have to remove the sound proof surrounds around the engine, which takes a couple of mins.

The only vice with most nimbus is that its a Vdrive and if and only if the stern gland needs replacing or the gearbox fails the whole orf the engine/ g box has to come out as 1 piece.

If you want to know more look on the nimbus owners site and talk to other owners.

Generally if you just looking for a single engine boat you cant really go wrong for that type of boat.

I think its only for sale as the owner wants larger with 2 engines for security.

They are superb boats, we sell them and I am very impressed with the excellent quality and design, the hull has a bonded in inner liner and is very solid, they perform well too, my dream boat would be a 38 Commander as its perfect for cruising here in Norway, and I love the multi-level layout.

nimbus 340 commander

Moved from a 320 coupe to a 340 Commander 330hp last September

Love the boat and its handling especially if you have both bow and stern thrusters.
Economy is as the earlier post and noise levels are excellent in view of boxed in engine. access to all service points is good

Build quality is all that you would expect from a Nimbus and having a number of different seating areas gives it the feel of a much larger boat. Wheelhouse is a great place to watch the world go by.

Excellent sea keeping qualities and if you can get a read of the test [Offshore Powerboats have copies] you will see the boat got 9/10

Much admired in and around the marina as a proper boat which for an ex sailor is good news.

Hope this helps

Bob
