Props now been cleaned back to shiny bronze colour. Did ask before about Propspeed, but wondering what would be the best protective coat to try and keep off marine growth?
Past experience on previous boats with Alli props , very hard to get anything to adhere . Is it best to leave as smooth as poss or is there a magical coating out there? /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I have nice new props supplied by Volvo under warranty but was thinking about the cone and whether to treat that with trilux. Think Vovlo would say you should not treat the props with anything. Have emailed Volvo to ask the questions. Will let you know the answer

you should not try polishing up the dph props. they go the dull colour for a reason it protects the materials from corrosion a bit like a protective film

Hi Gingie
Props were repaired due to small amount of pitting which i think was from cavatation. Dark coating taken off during repair , and received back in a polished state?
Should i coat with Trilux Prop drev?

I was told never to antifoul ones props. I did it once many years ago, and the props disintegrated.
What I do now, is paint them with ordinary Crown Solo Velvet Black paint. It sticks well. Due to the worm in Chi, and last year finding my props like a pair of hedgehogs, this time I mixed in to the paint the strongest chilli powder I could find, and it appears to have kept the worm at bay.

Volvo response was:
For the protection of propellers, shafts, bow thrusters, etc, we kindly invite you to visit the following website: http://propspeed.co.nz/.

Kind regards,

Like Gingie I had been told by the local Volvo man down on the Hamble that the props go black and are self protecting.
Does anyone recommmend Propspeed?
