Nightmare - new boat needed

Last week we listed our boat for sale with a new broker as the last wasn't up to much. Viewing on Friday. Offer on the spot which we accepted, sea trial and inspections today which were fine so they have signed and will take ownership by the end of the month!

We are shocked by the speed and my wife is upset now that our great boat will be leaving us. She has also given me orders to find a new boat by August and have it on our berth in BSM.

Bugger me I am going to be busy. I need to head down to Nice to take all our personal bits off and try not to get too emotional myself. Still on to a new step.

So I need to find a HT sports cruiser on the French/Italian Riviera that is less than 12x4m for our berth for below €160k.

Will consider U.K. Boats but the tight timelines will make shipping difficult I think.

Please chip in with boats and advice!
 
Name and shame that broker who sold your boat within a week how dare he, it's just not on giving you all that work to do in double quick time and leaving you boatless :)

Or should that be congratulations on a super quick sale and good luck with your search for a replacement :cool:
 
Relax , calm down --nice place to be .
I listed my trusty ( never let me down ) Sunseeker @end of 14 season --- wam bang -slam gone in 3 weeks .
Guardienne hired me a storage unit and stripped the boat . We never got to unpack it .
Arrived 1/2 T Autum to see only mooring lines empty berth .

Get googling -ask for extra pics, - don,t be afraid to buy in IT .
Enjoy the experiance -cash in hand and perhaps ( not sure how BSM works ) get some income from your berth ?

Win win -open a bottle

List what you don,t want 1st --- stuff like high gloss cherry , vacufush bog s , fake /veneered teak , -- outdrives -- carpets all personal -- I might add
Then hunt down ---- don,t be ,of feel under any pressure to beat a well trodden path to our (UK) so called big 3 .

Sports cruiser hard top is what my wife likes the look of, plus we head down at all times of the year so a bit of protection from the rain is nice. I might get away with a soft top. There is a nice Pershing 37 that I keep pointing out to her.

Not afraid of Italy.

I have found one boat, but the broker won't answer calls or emails or SMS. I will get a French mate to call to see if he is just ignoring my UK number.

Yup P37'--- great choise --- show her a few ( not all ) of the outdrive + Vp prob threads .
Would that be a CAT or Yanmar ? .
The 4M beam -any chance of upping that ?
When,s your marina concession up ---
Plan as of today is to 2 1/2 times up the rent .
So look @ your poss rent posted today X that by 2.5 -then add your maintenance .
So for you although the miopic view is find a boat ,step back and think post concession --- yes a lot of balls to juggle and there may be a bigger boat ( from 12x4 ) in there somewhere ?

Well that's the P37 out. No beds that can't be accessed from both sides. She is sick of being climbed over or climbing over me.

Our berth at BSM is an annual berth. We are on a 10m, but were offered the 12 earlier this year which is why we decided to sell and move up. We had/have been talking about it for sometime, but the offer of the berth was the trigger. If we passed we would go to the back of the wait list.

Berths in BSM all expire Dec 18 and no ones knows what is going to happen so we are going to stick with what we know and stay on the 12. Also annual rent goes from €8100 to €12500 for a 14m berth.

She looked at a Antares 36 on Tuesday and the boat was immaculate and fully options, but she didn't like the layout and lack of storage. Don't ask how many clothes she has on board for beach restaurant lunches and dinners.

Front runners are Ben/Bav/Jen sport cruisers of the 38' mark. But I have just sent her the details of a Sessa 38 that has gone down well.

Back to yachtworld, mondial, announcesbateau etc etc etc.

There is a Camargue 44 (13.2M) here @ La Nap ,listed by DLB yachts .
Looks like a Pex taken in .I walk past it every day ,
Asking €139 K
White hull ,Volvo,s plenty of room ,but crucially it's looks like its built like the preverbial Brick SH .
Going fwds I think this SS will age better ,last longer than the 3 marques you listed above without outdrive woes in aged boats in the SoF .

Berths ---start getting a plan B together look at Italy --- I wouldn,t constrict /deny boat choice around a LONG TERM berth in BSM .

Even a 4x12 cos you may find you are unable for what ever reason stomach the "new" rent post concession end .
 
Thanks PYB, bunks in the aft cabin will not work. Also the loa is 12.2 and BSM are 12 full stop. I have previously tried to negotiate on this and the rules are strictly adhered to. If you find a nice Ben/Jen/Bav at under 12m then let me know.

A bigger boat enables ( bigger tender ) to move to SoF from Italy @ 1/3rd rent

Always liked these - to my eye very pretty lines, loads of open space. Shafts and located in the Sof (though some newer ones in Italy)

Going back to other considerations the Jeanneau Prestige 38 is an obvious candidate.
Or the Beneteau Flyer 12 (might be too long)
Sealine C/SC 39 fits (11.96m) and is again shaft drive

Nice,

I will show my wife when she gets back tonight. She stayed down in BSM when I had to return to work on Monday. Her week has been better than mine it is fair to say.

Thanks for the links. Two weeks ago we went to look at an Azimut 39. It was, without any doubt, the worst viewing we have ever had. The guy shows up, but has lost the keys. He's an old guy and obviously hasn't been near the boat, nor has anyone else, for some time. We went for the viewing on our way to Cannes for lunch and I ended up getting covered in muck. My wife wouldn't set foot on board. Without the keys there was no way to look inside as it was firmly locked and he had no idea about spare keys.

So we left for lunch both fuming. I like the look of the Azimut that Sunseeker has at Torquay and I am trying to get to see it, but there is a time and distance issue for me right now.

The other boats I know. Good pictures!
