Here's one for all you clever folk.
I'm trudging my way through 'A seaman's guide to the Rule of the Road' for my yacht master theory, and I'm on night lights and towing inconspicuous, partyly submerged vessel or objects etc.
Now it says, "Such a vessel or object, less than 25 metres in breadth, displays one all-round white light at or near the forward end and one all-round white light at or near the after end (except that dracones need not display the light at the forward end)."
What is a dracone?
Is it one of those things that I'm ever likely to encounter, a bit like the mine sweeper in operation that I have 2 miles off my port bow on a steady bearing that I have to keep 1000 metres away from on a regular basis in the Solent?
