Nidri and Sivota

I have also only visited by road. A day circular tour of the island is a must, particularly if you are a Louis deBerniers fan. The Robola winery is also worth a visit.
Seems to me a great lunch stop in settled weather before the afternoon breeze gets up. On my list for when I get more adventurous!

If the weather is settled, further south a place called Kyriaki (Sunday) is worth a look. It has a tiny fishing harbour, a Vega could squeeze in! there are a couple of good fish Tavernas there. If I am down that way later in the week, I will post a piccy of it.

Nidri and Sivota and Assos and Atheras

Although I have only day visited Assos, I have spent the night in Ormos Atheras about 7nm WSW. It is partially sheltered from the north by an island. In fact we experienced a solar eclipse there. Next day it's an easy run down to Argostoli, or Lixouri if you prefer. much easier than beating west from Katelios.

From the photo this looks like the small harbour near Zola, about 5M SW of Assos? I've not sailed in there, but I've been to it by scooter. We only draw 1.2m, but on the basis of what I saw when we visited, I'd have reservations about trying to get in unless it was millpond flat.

Yes thats the one! you are quite right its a bit tight but if the weather is good you can find enough water close to the entrance, its worth a lunch stop if nothing else but i see a yacht that has overnighted there quite regularly, probably on their way to Lixouri or Argostoli At least its away from the flotillas /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That's the place.... we have stayed there overnight and as Davy says it is a bit tight... we draw 1.4 M so there was not a lot of water under the keel! but it was very pleasant. I would not attempt it if there was a swell as it would be a bit sore on the boat.

Can't comment on security problems at Parga but this summer the small harbour was a tip with distressed tripper boats both on and below the surface and a mess of rope and chain on the bottom.

The flotillas still drive up on to the beach and use the water.

We anchored out in the bay serveral times, only problem being the ski/water-toy boats, which pack up at about 6pm. The water taxi comes by regularly to get you into town.
