Interesting that the Russian Navy, to whom she was given by the RN in 2003, have fitted in mast furling and Solent headsails.
At which time she did not have an in-mast furling mainsail. And here's a pic of the boat visiting Gosport in 2013...

She was certainly rather more robust when I sailed aboard in the 80's and 90's!Plus a flat screen TV and a coffee machine! Russian naval yacht pays visit to Gosport | Royal Navy

I sailed Adventure several thousand miles over various occasions including from Rio to the Carib. The skippers berth was certainly snug and it took a certain amount of agility to get into it... I fitted an electric fan as it was a coffin in the tropics and I sometimes chose to sleep on the sails in the forepeak when we were sailing downwind in the trades as I could crack the main hatch open for some air. Looks like my comfy sails are all gone as they've gone over to twin furling headsails.. Load of softies. Changing the hanked on and rather heavy headsails on a Nicholson 55 in rough weather was occasionally rather character building.I note that the Russian Navy have rebuilt the accommodation. On an un-modified MOD 55, getting into and out of the skipper’s berth calls for a certain level of flexibility. (DAMHIKT).

One bloody Loo ??? What the hell is a Loo at sea?? We have heads in the Navy unless you were a Sludgemariner then its OK to call them Loo's. lolThe layout did surprise me rather...one loo and 10+ berths...

I can see it was ideal for minimalistic ocean racing forty years ago, but I'm surprised if some Nich 55s haven't been converted to more private/luxurious accommodation, if only for profitable charter.
