Once the tide made enough, to allow me to get out of south channel tollesbury .hoisted the main coming out & a beat home down the wallet. I headed out to st peters flats to get out of the flood tide & short tacked along the flats until I could lay nth eagle & managed to stay on that stbd tack hard on the wind until I could free off a tad to get around Clacton / Walton. cleared Walton Pr at 100m with lots of waving to the end of Pr folk. decided to get back to the marina so when the wind was up the chuff , I motor sailed then furled the genoa to make best use of the ebb as the ebb once in the Orwell would be strong.I was correct I kept in shallow water up the river, even so it was 1.5kts of tide all the way to Ipswich. sailed 38 mls with max wind of 15kts. a very good day indeed.

Hi Simon,

We were also dinghy sailing on the Blackwater, and Gordon said he thought he had recognised you in another dinghy just off Maldon. Super day, wasn't it. It was the first time we had sailed our dinghy on the Blackwater, and it was brilliant, despite an awful lot of other vessels of all types in all directions.
