Normally I don’t winterise and manage a few trips out over winter however this year, mainly due to work and other commitments I haven’t been out at all, I think it’s close to 6 months since I have taken the boat out so with a few hours spare this afternoon I managed to take the opportunity to get out on the water and blow away a few cobwebs.
Upon getting down to the boat, and starting the engine I was greeted with the dreaded constant alarm sound but a quick phone call and then a visit 20 minutes later by Tom (Tompa Marine) it was all sorted.
It was a quick blast over to Cowes from Saxon Wharf and back again but it felt good to be out on the water with the sun on my face, albeit with a chilly wind. Nice and calm all the way…
Roll on the summer…

Matt - Do you keep her in the dry stack or in the water? I visited Saxon Wharf yesterday and may be moving my boat to the dry stack soon.

Mine is waiting to be de-winterised and there's been a few days over the winter i'd wished i could go out.

Being dry stacked i'm nervous about not winterising, although i do put heaters in the cabin and in the engine compartment, so maybe i'm worrying needlessly(?)

Would be good to know how many dry stack users don't winterise.

Yes I drystack her and I haven't winterised for the last few years. There is power to the stack so over winter I keep a tube heater in the engine bay and flush antifreeze through the domestic water supply. I know a few others who do similar and don't fully winterise. The boats can get a bit dirty from dust from the nearby scrap heap but staff are great there nothing seems too much trouble. May see you around if you decide to make the move.
