Nice pictures

Here’s a few more from my favourite cruising area, Scilly. All taken in a very special anchorage, the Cove, between St Agnes and Gugh. Apart from the final pic, another very special anchorage, St Helens Pool, between Tresco and St Martins, probably a mile or so to each island from our boat. It may not look it, but it’s definitely the most sheltered all round anchorage in the islands.
The first pic also shows my sons former boat. It was previously owned and well cared for by another forumite.

That pool looks magical.

I'm desperate to get to the Scilly Isles.

I hope they were suitably humbled Porto (y)
Actually we got a reaction.
On the silver pseudo sail boat there were peeps on the open bathing platform and as we went by ran inside all of them inc crew .
Not shown in the pic as they 8uggered off .
Secondly same boat - see the little port bow balcony open .There was a beautiful young lady on her own ( fag break ) and as we approached she disappeared.
It might have something to do with the fact one mate held his hands up as if he had a telescopic lens on a camera.

So I decided “ thanks lads “ we went to Villfranche for the night .I did not want any awkward situations with any of there crew breaking out on Monaco , if you get my drift ?

How ever next day both boats had gone so we went in .2D179C6E-645A-4EFB-A464-441516EF1B43.jpeg

It is Ben, at the top of the tide it can get just a Little Rock and roll, but a few hours later after all the reefs have started to uncover it provides perfect peace and quiet. And there’s rarely more than half a dozen boats anchored there. Lots of small islands to explore and hide behind if the wind changes significantly, but we’ve never felt the need to move once we’ve anchored there.
The first pic is looking out over St Helens Pool from Tresco, we are the small white blob in the middle! The boats in the foreground are on mooring buoys in Old Grimsby Sound.
The 2nd pic is again looking out from Tresco, but slightly further south. The final pic is looking back at Tresco from Old Grimsby Sound, which is one of the main channels into St Helens pool, which is behind us.

I’ve been to Tresco a few times by helicopter. It’s a magical place with a turquoise sea

Ok, this photo is not from the archive but from today. We took a little road trip to St Tropez.
Does anyone know what happened to this poor unfortunate boat?

someones company took a turn for the worst and now they need a quick insurance payout ?

There’s a wreck recovery clause in the Zurich and Amlin ins policies .
That boat is Italian flagged and reg , and if it’s still there I conclude issues over funding recovery.
Incidentally the uk ins culture seems to be full comp .In Italy they do a 3 P only policy the min requirement .

Anyhow scamper off and check your policies, not just anchor dragging like this but a sinking or fire on its berth .
You get the payout ..but then end up blowing 1/2 of it on the Marina removal / recovery/ salvage etc .

Speaking of anchor dragging brings me round to forum taboo of mentioning the exact cover for unattended @ anchor .
I know that part of that bay is marked on a chart as a anchorage so for my policy I would be covered .I have it in writing .
Not saying it was left unattended.

Its obvious to me if it’s still there there are no funds available to remove it .

It wouldn’t have been removed just for its salvage value ?
No I mean you cannot just park it there permanently, some one will not pay out for its removal.
Environmental / eco issues as well .

My list is ( not exhaustive) private owner , Company owner if still solvent ? ,insurance Co , or st Trop commune .
Thats 4 bill payers .
Any more ?
