Nice low planing speed only three boat lengths passing a line of mooring jetties with 20 moored mobos - Ughh!!!

Didn't effect us badly as we moor defensively expecting the odd bout of nutty wake, plenty of fenders out and long slack mooring warps, and no glassware that wasn't nailed down, but the smaller vessels on the jetties got walloped, two virtually mounting the pontoons with nasty gelcoat damage. I suspect the guy had no idea till he heard the sound of small hulls banging against pontoon tops accompanied by the understandable shouting.

Everybody should be allowed to make a mistake once.
Having one finger removed with a carrot peeler can be a useful reminder not to do it again

Would've peed me off for sure. Surely there's a limit there? (I've know idea where it is but looks as tho there would be a limit in force?)
L
:)

Isnt there still a 5 knt limit in force in that area? - this picture is surely enough to identify and fine the culprits, We have seen jetski's ripping along a little further up affecting craft at the old marina site , however they are trailered in and launched by the park - so are gone before action can be taken. This boat is a little large to be trailered in for the day so should be around close by. needs to be vigorously reported to the authorities who seem to do little to stop this sort of nonsense.

Probably thinks he is having his pic taken because he looks so cool.

Infuriating. I once saw a loon one bank holiday afternoon, in a big, twin outboard engined, unlicenced RIB - perhaps 26 - 28 foot long, tearing up and down the river ouse at speed with several drunken mates in the back throwing out empty beer cans. One poor couple in a small shetland had moored up on one of the small "inlets" where the bank had eroded back a little and presented a sandy shore. They were on the bank having a picnic when the worthy passed them and me at about 40 knots.

We could all only look on in horror as their little boat was picked up and deposited on the sand with a bang. The worthies carried on their merry, arm waving, football type chanting way up river, totally oblivious.

I'm not one for reporting people or spoiling others fun, usually a live and let live type, in fact on a quiet evening when the river was unoccupied I admit I was one for "opening the taps" a little, but only when I was sure I had the reach to myself and secure in the knowledge that my boat demonstrably produces less wash on plane than when plodding along, However that idiot, if had been displaying a BW licence plate would have had his number taken and reported. Not just speeding, but recklessly dangerous on a busy bank holiday river with families out in canoes, small tenders, kids inflatables ect.

What's worse, he doesn't look to be on full plane... he'd be better off passing at full speed. The perils of boating in a popular area

Where is that OF? If its Killaloe up from the bridge the guy should be shot (although I suspect you're touring at the moment so perhaps north Shannon). There are a good few places similiar on the Shannon were such antics deserve severe punishment!!!

Generally I don't mind wash when mored but years ago we were mored two out at Melick/Victoria Lock waitng to head up river. There were maybe 6 other 35+ foot boats mored two out ahead of us and a few small boats too. At the time the hotel in Portumna apparently had a c25-28ft Four Winns availabe to rent by guests (lunancy!). Anyway the guy driving it this time was first up in the lock and naturally burried the trottle coming out the gate 50 foot ahead of the pontoon and continued by all the mored boats. Worst I've ever seen! people falling over on their own decks!

Proper tool....... No excuses.

It was indeed Killaloe, and it occurred in a 3kt speed limit zone (ie 5kph). I have since discovered who owns the vessel and will send this pic to them. I don't want to be a sort of 'Stasi' spy but this was bang out of order and the owner should know it.
