The Nexus tablet comes with £15 credit to use on apps or books from the Google store.
Unfortunately the credit disappears on Sep 30.
Anyone found anything (boaty) worth buying with it please? I'm struggling.
You can get Cunliffe and Noyce books but no sign of Calder, that might have been useful.

SWMBO is hankering after a Nexus. Should I gracefully give in to her demands on the basis it makes a decent chart plotter, i.e. are the navionics charts any good on it?

I have one, forget anything from navionics at the moment as its not compatible. I've got a grib viewer and the raymarine Apps for viewing my chart plotter. Other than that its a great bit of kit at half the cost of an iPad ... and it has GPS!

The issue is that the nexus 7 uses the latest version of android os, jelly bean not ice cream sandwich (I know it sounds odd). The later version has not been tested with navionics and until they certify it you can't install it without tricking the system. Search the PBO forum if you want to try that

On the Navionics website, they tell you about backing up the apk from your phone using astronomy file manager. So you can use that apk, transfer to the nexus 7 and after you install it, and it will re authorise eih your Google account. It's a bit of a workaround until they officially certify the nexus7. I have found my anchor watch pro really good too. Meteo Consult is excellent for weather and free.
