Down in ProMarine (QAB) last week.
1) They had info on gas powered outboards at competitive prices
http://www.boatingmag.com/boats/lehr-propane-outboards

2) The lady there happened to mention that IIRC all new outboards next year must have their carbureters replaced by fuel injection to reduce emissions. Apparently only Suzuki currently have compliant outboards in the marketplace.

Still , might make some of them better starters...............

Do not be confused by salesladies - it's quite OK and legal for you to own and use a Seagull or other 2 stroke outboard. It is illegal for anyone in the EU to offer one for sale - as may be happening with carburettor outboards.

It will be quite legal to sell any new outboard engine in the EU which meets the emission regulations, including 2 stroke and engines with carburettors, but in future you are less likely to find somebody who manufactures such engines.

More nonsense

Ah it's all green tree hugger nonsense. They're bored, need to justify their EU bloated salaries and again dump on us from those ivory towers. If they really wanted to make a difference there are loads of things they could target. Most boaters use hardly any fuel, they should target the big fuel users.

They could force manufacturers to Make domestic machines that are serviceable instead of throw away, etc etc. but they are in the pockets of big companies who pay virtually no tax.... ......are the whine could go on.

Why don't they pick on fast cars or garden machinery instead??

Fuel injection is far superior to carbs - but the cost would be prohibitive!

Here it is:

http://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/...ew-rules-to-make-watercraft-safer-and-greener

But small engines have six years to comply.

Look at the votes of MEPs - the maths means even UKIP voted for this!!!

Of course they did! Mrs Scroyns, seaside landlady of Cleethorpes, isn't going to vote at the GE for a party that lets all those noisy toffs in boats get away with polluting the seashore, even to a minute degree is she? No good explaining to her that the process of disposing of the old and manufacturing the new in China plus getting it here far out-pollutes what that little engine would emit in ten years of leisure use!
