Newtown Creek

We are members of the NT really because we use the coast path a lot and feel we should contribute. If the land were not owned by the NT we couldn't be sure of access rights and we value highly being able to wander freely along the cliff tops. There is maintenance of the pathways to be done, there are so many boots using the paths they would fall in to disrepair quickly if someone didn't keep it together.

I completely agree that one is fleeced for everything if you venture in to the cafe or tea shop, unless you are okay with being deprived of twenty quid keep out!

I think we pay £80 or so to be members for which we get countless hours of pleasure walking the paths and enjoying the parkland and gardens of some of the greatest houses in the country. I don't get political about whether the houses should ever have been built, they were paid for by the empire and that's a fact, they are still, is some cases, quite a spectacle to see.

We could enjoy the paths without paying but if everyone took that view there'd be no paths? It's worth it for us. Better value than the TV licence fee.
