Newmar Phase Three charger repair

Well here's a bit of good news............

As mentioned previously our battery charger broke when we put Hollywood back in the water.

It's a 95A Newmar Phase Three and the UK distributor was very nice and friendly but explained that there is no process here to repair them and they can not supply any spare parts anyway, they did offer to give me an existing customer discount on a new one though, that brought the price down to about £1200 ish.

Anyway, being a pedantic old sod I thought I'd try and see what could be done about this with Newmar USA. The charger was new just before we bought Hollywood, along with new batteries so it hadn't exactly had a hard life.

Anyway, after a few very nice discussions with the tech support guy in Newmar USA I found that they offer a 3 day turnaround , fixed menu, repair service for their chargers in the States. I thought that might be a good route, but then upon further discussion and looking at the time scales and usage of the charger (it was only a few months out of 2 yr warranty) Newmar offered to do a full warranty repair on it if I covered the shipping to and from them.

So my charger has had a holiday in California and arrived back here last week, they found some burnt items on the PCB and although only 1 of the power modules was not working they replaced both so I basically have a new charger on my original chassis and cover. I went down to Lymington yesterday and fitted it and dead chuffed that we now have a fully functioning charging system again. . And I've now got a new 1 yr warranty on it as well. And they upgraded the air filters to a newer version as well.

So, Newmar get a big thumbs up from me for the really excellent service, help and support offered by their USA main company.
