Newlyn Pontoons

I put into Newlyn once after a long and difficult passage from north Wales during which neither I nor swmbo managed to get much sleep. The attitude of the fishermen and harbour master was so hostile that after an hours rest, a cup of tea and a slice of toast, we decided to move out and sailed round to Falmouth.

I suspect that there is growing realisation in Newlyn that the days of their fishing fleet are numbered and that soon they will need the revenue from visiting yachts to provide some income.

Building pontoons is the easy bit, changing the chip on the shoulder attitude of certain locals will take longer and is a much bigger task.
