Newhaven

I am going to the solent shortly from Ramsgate and considering Newhaven for a stopover but have heard good bad and frightening reports. Any previous experiences would be appreciated.

Last time I stayed there , there was a very noisy ferry to wake us up and scare the hell out of me!!

It sounded like someone is driling through the hull of my boat and it was very close !

I actually heard that the Dieppe Newhv Cat collided with the pontoons seriously damaging 3 boats and is now banned from turning in the harbour it now reverses out or in . I am seriously considering Brighton now!

Presumably you want to break up the journey?

It is only about 100 miles from Ramsgate to the start of the Solent.
Relaxed cruising, 20 knots, George doing the driving, you'll be there in 5 hrs.
Keep Newhaven, Eastbourne and Brighton as bolt holes if required.

Anyway they are a rough old lot in Brighton !!

I went in there when I had an engine down was there for a week, come to think of it they did have a security gate. Didnt have time to explore the area. Marina staff very friendly, good cafe by the office, and good engineer on site a Mr Page
