Hi, We have just taken over a 1978 28ft c-kip 280 eurobanker trawler motor cruiser with a 80hp ford lehman diesel engine driving a 28 x 16 prop . Does anyone know anything about these vessels as we do not seem to find much out when googled ,they seem to be liked in america but not so much in britain ,if you can help then many thanks.

Plenty of varnishing to keep you busy then!
Eurobanker,Chien Hwa,C kip,Trader etc were all Far eastern copies of the Grand Banks range.Friend of mine had a 34' Chien Hwa trawler with a 6cylinder 120hp Lehman. He got a lot of info from the American trawler forums.Lehmans were standard on most of the imported trawlers of that era.
Do you have a lovely carving on the doors? If so this has something to do with the men who fitted your boat out,so my friend was told.
A lot of the trawlers in America have the teak decks removed as they can leak quite badly if not looked after properly. The screws don't come out, don't ask how I know that!
Forum Member Rusty Barge likes his Trawlers I think.

Hi Flynnbarr , Thank you for your reply and thank you for your information about our c kip trawler, yes there is a lot of varnishing to do inside the saloon and helm area and below in the cabins, but outside the teak woodwork and deck are fine .I have not noticed yet any carvings but now you have mentioned it I will be looking, the saloon aft has bi folding teak doors that open up onto the small rear deck making it quite open in the hot weather. We have some work to do to it ,a small refit and clean and polish and hope to start using it this summer, will try and keep all informed if your interested, many thanks Lindy & david ,VALIANT.

Congratulations and welcome.

Never heard of them either and my quick google didn't turn up much.

Please add some photos, should be a great boat, trawler space and light in a manageable size and very economical.

There are many trawlers from the Far East, most were built and then passed to different yards to be fitted out. Depending which yard they were given to would depend on the quality of the fit out, that said many were of a very good quality.

Grand Banks did all there own fit out and therefore kept a tight reign on he quality.

80hp will give you around 7 knts cruising. Check all heat exchangers before going cruising.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy being on the water.

Tom.

Ah Valiant. If my memory is correct she spent many years tied up on a private garden mooring just below the Waterside Inn at Bray on The Thames.
Proper Little Ship,full of character.Enjoy

I have heard of the Eurobanker, in fact I was considering one some years ago as I have a weakness for trawler yachts of that ilk. Photos and details of works undertaken are always of interest. Welcome to the forum :)

Hi,Yes it belonged to a Mr J Mills of riverside ferry rd bray ,he had it for many years till about 2012 ,then 2 more owners and now us. We have found that the old fuel tank leaked and now has a new one aft of engine midships , but the old tank is so difficult to get to on the starboard side under the walkway it has been left .We are going to have fitted a full gas cooker from a caravan in place of the old small one and a fridge/freezer where the cold box is ,and reconfigure the seats and table on the port aft in the saloon ,will try and take pics next we go on her , lindy & David valiant:) does anybody recognise this boat and what it is ,some pics.S1210002.jpgS1190010.jpgS1190013.jpgS1190030.jpgS1190033.jpg
