Hi All,

just introducing myself, no doubt I'll be asking various questions in the future as I've just bought my first boat :).

Got myself a Macwester 26 (all things being equal if the money's cleared by tomorrow) and will be mostly sailing it up and down the Deben in Suffolk to start with. My dad's had boats for the last 35 odd years and I'm well familiar with the basics and am reasonably confident, but it's a bit different when it's your boat and you've got to look after it as well.

Can't wait to get her in the water, she's standing on the quay at Waldringfield at the moment waiting for a survey.

Cheers,
Chris

it's an established tradition that whenever you see any forumite for the first time, or someone flying the forum burgee, that yourush over to them and give them a big hug, and offer them a beer.

Being gentlemen, they will always say "no, no, you must have this one on me"....

Welcome to the forum (East Coast Massive) from a West Country sailor.

WELCOME..

:DWelcome,
Hope things go well for you.
This forum, always helpfull.
What your boat called ?.
I am down Blackwater, Fantasy my boat called , give us a wave if passing.:D

Hi Chris
Welcome to the Deben. I had a Macwester 30 for 7 years, which used to be on my mooring at Ramsholt. You will find your boat is built like a tank, and is great for drying out whenever you want. The dinnette arrangement is also good as it means you can sit and have a meal/chill and get a good view out the windows. My boat was more or less identical to yours, just a bit longer.

My son (ada on here) has a Westerly Tiger called Jenillys, on his Ramsholt mooring. She has red dodgers and sprayhood. Give him a shout if you sail by. Adrian, age 28, appears to be the only "youngster" at Ramsholt, are you another young'un and where will you be moored?

Hi Chris and again welcome. You will find the ECF a great forum and full of great advice, sharp whit and lots of good humour.
Do poke your nose out of the Deben, maybe we will see you out and about the Orwell too.
Hope all goes well for tomorrow and enjoy the great East Coast.
Ben

thanks for the welcome all :)

I certainly hope to venture a bit further than the Deben once I've plucked up the courage to navigate the Deben entrance, my dad works at Woolverstone Marina and he's (to put it mildy) rather pleased I've bought a boat!

Up to October at least I'll be moored at Waldringfield (mooring was included in the sale) and youngster, hmm .. not quite 28, haven't seen my 20s since 1997 ..
One of the reasons I bought "Chanson" (aside from the fact that she turned up a local bargain on ebay) was the drying out possibility and the room, I'm not really after speed at the moment. Nice bit of space and some creek crawling and fishing, that's one I'm looking forward to.

sarabande, "no, no, you must have this one on me"

Hi Chris
I have Sirenia, a Evolution 25 lift keel, moored at Ramsholt as well.

One way of meeting a lot of East Coast forumites would be to come along to the Pirate Weekend at stone point on the Walton Backwaters on 16th July.
Details on another thread around here.

I would be happy to be your guide over the Deben Bar that weekend.
Most likely leaving Ramsholt about 09:30 on the Saturday.

Thanks for the offer Clive, might take you up on that depending on where we are with tidying Chanson up.
Cheers - Chris
