Sorry, might sound silly,I've 2 batteries, starter and service, both flooded wet cell.
I now realise my starter battery is dead. Can I use a 110 amp car battery as a starter as I've been told this is ok, or should I buy a 'marine' (60 amp max, as according to manual with a dynastarter??!!)starter battery?

Thanks for all your help on this.

The main difference between a starting battery and a service battery is that one has to take cranking loads (high amps for not very long) and the other is deep cycle (has to recover from deep discharge quickly by intermittent charging) The car or lorry battery will do the former job but not the latter. The only problem therefore is if you want to switch them over, the car battery wont like to be deep cycled. The wet cell marine batteries are usually a hybrid that will do both jobs reasonably well. You need to compare prices and determine if the versatility of the marine battery is worth the extra flexibility that it offers. I think you will find that a good quality car battery will not be a lot cheaper.

Thank you for all your help on this, the battery is being given
to me free of charge, but as the manual stated 12volts 60Ah,
I did'nt want to overload anything, as have been told that
it might harm the dynastarter.
I am using this as a short term solution.

Once again thank you all for your time.
