New year sailing (pic heavy)

I know it was VERY cold but this High pressure that has dominated the weather scene for weeks brought some settled conditions with clear skies and calm seas.

And I for one am SOOOO glad I never take the old tub out of the water in the winter months as i so seldom get the chance to go sailing during the summer months

Yarmouth was really quite over New Year we thought it was going to be a lot busier, the harbour guys said we would NOT get onto the leccy pontoons .

But we got straight on (thankfully) as the only heating on the (T)rusty old ketch is a single 1500w fan heater at £15 from BandQ /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Even swmbo had a smile on her face

where were you sailing?

we were out over new year - Yarmouth, Newtown, Buckler Hard. Must have seen you as there were so few bots about.

we left poole new years eve and spent the time in yarmouth, the pics arre from the sail back, didnt see another boat outside the solent, we had the place to ourselves..... it was great

We were in Yarmouth on the Monday, then at anchor in Netwown before spending New Year eve in Bucklers Hard. Only saw two other boats out. We thought about Poole but as based in Portsmouth SWMBO did not fancy a beat back into a cold easterly so we stayed in the Solent.

Had everywhere to ourselves. I do like it like that - as long as the heating is working. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Unfortunately there is no power on lym town quay (iwas unaware) so for me and "the management" with no heating for 4/5 days in those temps was a non starter.... did you not get my message ?

we were tucked down into the dead end on the walk ashore pontoon rusty blue ketch with no sail covers on (couldnt be arsed) as it was to cold apparently.

I would gladly have lent you a beer had i known /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We might have passed on the Yarmouth pontoons.

I sailed down to Yarmouth the day before news year eve in similar fabulous conditions similar to your first photo. Just over 2.5 hours Portsmouth to Yarmouth, everything perfect e.g. tide, sun, wind direction and strength.

The main Yarmouth pubs were strangely quite on New Years Eve but the swmbo and I eventually found the one place with atmosphere, think it was called Salty's.

we stayed up playing cards on a mates windy with a red stripe down the side you would have walked past it to get out, we need to be better organised next year !
