Hi all can any1 tell me how to remove a window from a project 31 and where I would be able to purchase a new 1

hi.not sure if the project 31 windows are in a rubber seal or metal frames,but if the glass is flat a plant glazing company can do the job for you.if the glass is in a metal frame you would be best to remove the frame your self.then let the glazing company replace the glass.But if the glass is curved at all(a bow in the glass like a car window)the only thing you will be able to do is perpex/poly card it.the trouble with this is it scratches realy easy and will craze when it gets older.if i was closer i would do the job for you for a small fee!

The successor to the Project 31, the Princess 32, was fitted with 6mm toughened glass (later models were tinted). I i'd suspect that the windows in a project 31 are also toughened glass, ie bash one and it will shatter the same as a car window.
When i broke one in my old Princess i replaced it with 5mm perspex.

if it's flat and not curved easy to replace probley cost less then £150.just flatlam it.
but if it is curved cheapest opption would be to perpex/poly card.
ive replaced probley 10-15 windows in boats and it isnt difficult realy.

Do I remove the screws from both inside and out to be able to take the glass out of the frame?

yes remove screw's. then you will prob find the frame is siliconed into the boat if someone put's abit of presure onto the glass from the inside and you use a thin scrapper and thin bladed knife the frame and glass will come out as one unit.once out you will find small screw's that hold the frame together these most prob are siezed! but dont worry drill off head's and seperate the frame.(if you are doing the job your self at this stage).if you are going to flat lam it ,take the old glass to an ordinary glazing company and they will cut you apiece for you probley no more than £40-£60.if curved use perpex/poly card 6mm or their abouts. cut using a jigsaw.then its just a case of sealing glass back into frame. use sikaflex or anther high quality sealent.
(i bond then in with car window sealent. but then i'm in the trade)make sure the frame and glass is clean before sealing.now the screw's that prob didnt come out of frame, you can if you want replace,but if you have sealed the glass into the frame it will become structual anyway and dont bother with them up to you that one.clean boat of old sealent then just seal in the frame

bolt the frame back down job done!
i'm guessing that the old glass is intact as you never stated.
shouldnt cost you any more than a morning's work and about £60-80

Put a picture of the windows and fixings up on here, you may have been fitted properly with interscrews, Did you look at the link??

DO NOT use Sikaflex or screen bonding adhesives. Sorry but that is the wrong way to do it.
Both have little give to allow for flexing and both make future removals extremely difficult. If you should also get a leak with these adhesives, it's that much harder to find and cure. The glass or perspex should be bedded into the frame with a new rubber seal (if it had one before) and some non setting butyl sealant. The frame should then be bedded into the boat with the non setting butyl sealant, i'll dig the exact brand name out later.

yep will agree with you their paulgooch.bonding is difficult to remove for future replacements ( not for me over 16yrs experience and bond wont ever leak if done properly! and does flex as they now use it as a hing on some opening quater lights on cars)) use arboseal instead.they use it on deckhatches and as paul say's it dos'nt set fully its like a sticky chewing gum.

There is a company which will reburbish your windows in the the Midlands and several which will supply a new window for not much more.
Recent quote for 2 x new front windows for my P33 was £300.00 + vat,rebuild was about £200.00.
If you do it yourself make very sure that your rebuilt window is put back together at the same angles,it is very easy to assemble slightly off kilter and much altering of the window hole ensues...you may well ask how I know.
