This winter, I will be mainly... Changing my crazed windows in my Eolia 25. Light smoke colour, they are 8mm thick and 2m long. One each side.

I spoke to a man at SIBS whose stand showed a pair of tidy but small replacement (DIY) windows for about £40. He sent me a price for mine: just a scrape under £500. So I'm looking for suitable materials to make a pair myself. (I can cut, drill, fasten and swear as good as the next man). Living near Portsmouth I shouldn't be too far from companies that supply yachty window materials...

Does anyone have any recommendations as to who I can approach for reasonably priced, lightly tinted, window material?

You've just seen the yachty window material price...

There are any number of places on Google who'll supply you with your heart's desire in non-boaty perspex at non-boaty prices.

In my experience B&Q has a limited stock of mediocre kit, often at prices that would make a marine supplier blush. 8 mm thick & smoked will limit your choice of supplier, but 10mm seems easy to find and shouldn't be a problem unless it really has to bend a lot or fit in a frame

It sounds like there are some good recommendations near you but if you're stuck try a sign maker. That's what I did.
 
You don't say how your windows are constructed, or if they are frameless. If you just want the material, there is nothing special about it. Either acrylic or polycarbonate is widely available from either signmakers or there are people who spoecialise in cutting it for boat windows. If you have not done it before, best to take the old ones to the supplier and have them cut it and drill it as it is much easier to do it with their machine. Be aware 8mm is not cheap! anyway Google local signmakers and get some quotes.
 
We used Sunlight Plastics in Waterlooville for the windows for our last boat. It wasn't a whole lot cheaper to by the raw material than to have them cut the shapes and drill and countersink an awful lot of holes exactly where they needed to be. Even as someone who doesn't like farming work out, it absolutely wasn't worth the time I'd have spent or the small amount of money I'd have saved doing it myself.

Several of the boat window material suppliers on my list have already been mentioned. A couple of others: Project Plastics in Colchester and Eagle Boatwindows "up north" somewhere

But with Sunlight Plastics practically on your doorstep I would think they are the obvious choice esp as generally there have been good reports on here about them.
