I collected 2 new rams today for my outdrive,at the piston end of the ram their is a threaded hole, would I be right in thinking that the threaded hole is for a grease nipple?

No, you need to buy the bonding kit also, an earth bonding cable attaches here and then bolts to a spare hole in the side of the gear housing ensuring electrical continuity to all of the components. Its available as a complete kit with bonding wires and screws.
