Reality v Non reality

Now that Corrie has gone all modern and serious(ish) I think Reality TV makes a good substitute. Some are really interesting and some make us howl with laughter, but like many others we are 'people watchers' and find our fellow human beings interesting, this is just another way of doing it. There is always a switch for those that don't like it.

Managed to get the last 20 minutes of a real tv show involving lots of real footy players on Sunday, crap acting, terrible histrionics, lousy costumes, too much violence but the underlying plot is quite good. Episode two to-night:-))

Re: Reality v Non reality

What I want to know is how come all these poor northern girlies on Corrie can afford such expensive hairdos? And it cant be down to 'working in Audrey's Hairdressers', cos we all know that hairdressers themselves always have the worst hair.

Re: Reality v Non reality

The reality about 'reality TV' is that it is actually a very cheap way of making TV programmes. No stars (narrator apart), no scriptwriters etc. You can get away with poor camerawork cos it gives it that 'live, fly on the wall' look. Most annoyingly, after the commercial break you then get the narrator to spend the next 3 or 4 minutes repeating all the footage and telling you what's happened so far, as if you didn't already know. Not sure the quality of the programme research is that good either. Doh, why didn't the poster post on the 'liveabored' forum? There's someone planning such a trip, popping in there every week - enough for a series praps.

But that's much too grumpy of course. I all in favour of brown nosing witless media types.

Football as reality TV? - nah, no-one would believe it!

In which of your categories does Big Brother fall ?/forums/images/icons/smile.gif
I hate to disillusion you but my friends in "the trade" assure me that much of this people watching "reality" is staged/edited to comply with the production team's ideas of how the program will appear. How real is that ?/forums/images/icons/frown.gif

Re: Reality v Non reality

Big Bro (this year) is a hoot - falls into Adult TV at the moment. Last night there was a major, major barney and violence almost came into it.

If Corrie is real then how can reality not be real? (doh)

Re: Temptation Island

I recently met some people who do this series...

Interesting thing is the people who are selected to appear on the series have really in-depth psyco-analysis done on them first. Only those that are emotionally insecure and most likely to screw up are selected.

So when babe see's video of bloke talking to some curte woman she thinks he is screwing around so she has to get even by screwing around!

Interesting thing is the German version of the series failed. The problem was the contestants selected were actually normal people. They went, had a fun free holiday, but did not mess around because they valued their relationship and knew they would be going back to it after the show.

!! such is life. I am sure BB is similarly casted.
