François Joyon, 57, in IDEC (30m) knocks 16hrs off the old record and averages 27 knots..!!!

Imagine 5 days at 27 knots; when do you sleep and for how long?

Incredible.

Anyone know what he does for electricity on a run like that? Presumably you want to keep weight down (ie keeping fuel and batteries to a minimum) but when it's a short dash of a few days you wouldn't want the drag of a hydrogenerator. I'm guessing there's a bunch of electronics to power.

When he did his round the world trip he didn't run a generator at all. All the power was from solar and wind I believe. I would have thought it would be the same here.
