New Toy - Squadron 58

A 12m berth is exactly what I'm looking for! Where in the SoF are you? (If I'm not being too personal)

Sorry, only just spotted this. Our end of the marina - the quiet end - has got plenty of empty 12m berths ... www.port-st-cyprien.com ... there's a Port plan and price list ... we're on X pontoon right at the bottom of the map ... very quiet here, no tourists and best of all, no mosquitos, anywhere! ... we bought the lease which is the cheapest way of keeping a boat here ... nice part of the world. Currently undecided about buying a 50-60 ft Princess - not sure if we'll get the extra use or pleasure for the money difference ... might just buy a new Aston Martin instead! Just remembered the guy next to me has his lease for sale as well ... there wouldn't be a problem getting a berth here.

It is in one of our most favorite places, unfortunately it's a bit far from home, I'm on the other side of Toulon. I'm in a river estuary port and it hasn't stopped raining (by that I mean it rains once a week) and the current is doing my head in so I've always got one eye open for a new permanent place (that doesn't cost as much as a boat, or Aston Martin). Thanks for the info, cheers.

Not sure if this is still relevant, but as I said, I had the port side electric window fail on me some weeks back.

The reason was as I described earlier; the retrofitted teak deck had blocked the original drainage and the hole I had drilled to the side panel had gotten blocked as well. Slowly the motor got swamped.

I had it fixed a week ago (at a considerable cost, I might add). The side panel was removed and the motor/mechanism was refurbished, but not replaced as they couldn't get the parts soon enough. It works now, but makes a funny noise going up, which makes me wonder how long before it stops working again...

On removing the panel, they broke it slightly and that required some additional remedial work. So worth being careful, especially if the lower part goes below the teak.

Quality purchase and great in all weathers. There is another just like it moored permanently offshore in a bay in the Orkneys (which has been offshore for years) using a substantial Samson post to keep her on both anchor chains. I've had many hours on 58's and they do not get much tougher than this full planning.
