I'll third that. One of the other selling points of Ferrettis (not new ones:disgust is the internal flybridge stairs and I would say we use them about 90% of the time. Its much safer at sea as well especially for keeping an eye on kids

Hear hear. Internal stairs are now SanLorenzo and Fairline only, I think, and possibly sunseeker will do it on demand on some boats (well, they drew and offered it to me on a Y80). Markc, many congratulations, and one of the first things I noted on your pictures was the internal staircase which I expect you will use much more than the ladder. You can get lunch up/down the internal stairs but not the aft ladder. The 165 looks a great boat and yours looks like a great example. where are you berthed?

You have nothing to fear J, your interiors surely pre-dates the nitro-combi laquer years.
Which depend on the yard a bit, but for Ferretti the models affected were:
- the 53 and 57 (badly!),
- the 165 (aka 55, only in its last years, 97 and 98 I believe),
- some bigger models , like the 620 and 680.
You would not find it anymore on mid naughties boats (53 included, by then renamed 530), because they replaced high gloss cherry with a lighter wood and matt finishing.

Mind, that was a widespread problem anyway, as I said.
I've seen it also on several Maioras, SLs and Antagos, to put that in perspective...

where are you berthed?

Thanks! We are moored in Port Santa Lucia in St Raphael... a nice position on Mole Nord with a great view across the bay . This is our first time in the Med, so a really exciting new adventure for our little family

Ah very nice. I picked up Jeremy Clarkson in the south basin of PSL for the Top Gear filming session a few years ago. You're but a short hop from the Lerins Islands and the caps d'antibes and ferrat-ish areas, so we will look out for you. And you're nicely close to St Trop and Port Grimaud, plus some nice anchorages past St Trop (Point de douanes, eg) plus Porquerolles. Do you fly into Nice then have to get to St Raph? Is quite a drive but perhaps no big deal if you're there for more than weekends.

Yes, fly into Nice. The drive is only about 40-45 minutes, so not too bad even for a short trip. I suspect it will be longer in the summer holidays, but we'll be there for 5 weeks and drive from the UK, so won't be flying
