We decided to add to the fleet a little and recently bought a Ranieri Revolution 4.55 m boat with a 50 hp Tohatsu 2 stroke. It has been an eventful purchase but we got it on the water yesterday and are very pleased. Here is a short video of this new to us boat journey From The New Forest to Suffolk UK

Glad you like it.
Will you be raising the engine a couple of holes?
What pitch prop is it?

No not going to mess with the engine and the Prop is the standard one that came with the engine. With the two of us on board she got out of the hole and on to the plane very quickly which was pleasing. I just need to possibly increase the slow running on the engine a small amount. The 50hp is fine for what we want to use this boat for but deffo a larger engine would be faster but we are happy with 26 knots to be honest and she cruises lovely at 19 - 21 knots.

I am going to get a cover made that fits on poppers as this boat will be kept on our swing mooring and the seagulls there dont half crap a lot.

All in all very pleased with this boat and it was your reports of it that got me looking so thanks for that

Will slow down even more with some growth on the hull. Mine would cruise at 22-24kn with 50hp, 29kn flat out. Raising the leg made all the difference.

Reddish Marine used to send these out with the engines too low, probably because 3mm shims are needed for it to clear the metal strip on top of the transom, or that would have to be removed.

I learned on the Jim Davidson meet the owner video that seagulls don't like snakes, you can get a plastic one lol.

Yup I have got 2 of those snakes from watching the same video

@ Limecc

I see that you are putting a 70hp on yours is it a 4 stroke. If so wont that be very heavy on the back ?

@ Limecc

Have you used it yet with that engine... if so what was the difference. My Twatso 50 2 stroke weighs 72kg

Rightly so! Engage brain Seacock ?
Thread Drift……..Sorry to change the topic chaps!?

We had a lovely 5.7m Ranieiri here in Malta for many years.

Well built and a great hull for crossing ’big boat’ wakes……but maybe a bit light for powering into a choppy seas.

Unless I could persuade SWMBO to sit on the forward ‘sun pad’!

Oops did I really write that!?

Think ours had a slightly bigger engine!?

Yes from only 1 outing I can see that it is a very dry ride and should handle wake and waves quite well. Under the front sundeck is a very very big locker and this is where we will store most of the stuff we take out with us and any other stuff we will keep on the boat. This will help with what seems a light front end. Because we have only a 72kg engine on ours when the max is 120kg I think we are already in a position that helps the light front end. Yes more power would be nice but having several boats one of which is 19 ft with a 200 hp V6 on the back I have come to the conclusion that it is not all about speed. Crusing along at about 19 - 22 knots is very nice and you soon cover some ground if you want to at that speed.

Yes keeping ours on a swing mooring even with anti foul will slow her down but she is such a small light boat pulling her out or beaching her from time to time for a quick wash and scrub up is no real issue

Now's the time to get some keel protector on.

What's mrs Plumbs preferred boat out of the fleet?

The Rib and the Honwave T38IE 2 are here indoors favourites. They are so versatile for taking places The Rib is also my favourite. Obviously not used the Ranieri enough yet but I think we will enjoy that also.

We also like the Sealine S24 but with a motorhome, campervan and Caravan it is hard to fit them all in lol :)

Do you know if Reddish marine sell the cover for the boat. I got a very old one that came with it and I want one to go over the lot when it is on the mooring. I can get one made but it will take a while.

I am also wondering if two people could sleep on the frond sun deck under the right cover for a nights wild camping. Could also possible fit a porta pottie in the very large front compartment
