Hi Heather and Steve

Hi Heather and Steve,

Thanks for the welcome.
It's a small world! We were down at Fambridge today. We had a walk along the pontoons before retiring to the yacht club bar (crumbs it was cold down there!!!) I'm pretty sure it was your boat that we were admiring! (v nice!!).
Sadly our boat is winterized otherwise it would have been great to venture out (although it's a bit on the brrrrrr side!!).

Merry Christmas

Ian and Sarah - welcome and Happy Christmas...

This forum organises...

1. Fitting out supper - usually end of March / early April
2. Oostende gathering - 2nd May Bank Hol in Oostende
3. Pirate Weekend - usually early July in the Walton Backwaters
4. Various other occasional get togethers
5. Laying up supper - sometime in November probably

Watch this forum for details and you'd be made welcome...

Nice to chat with you both in the ferry boat, enjoy the east coast next season. perhaps when we are back for a visit next summer we can hitch a sail somewhere

Neville & Janey

Welcome to the East coast. I am also at Bradwell with a Vivacity650 (C48).

There is a regatta held each September. Can't remember if it is called the Maldon or Mersea regatta, but several races are organized and are fun to join.

Bradwell is a great marina to be based in, with Harwich, the river Crouch and the North Kent coast all within a day's sailing range and the staff are always friendly and helpful.

Thanks for the very warm welcome guys!
And fab to catch up with the intrepid Neville and Janey in the Ferry boat!

Costumes are at the ready for the Pirates weekend - sounds fab!!

Just so we can pencil in the date - does anyone know when this normally happens?

Absolute - yes it was your boat we were "wowing" at!!

We've updated our profile - just waiting for iit all to be approved by the mods!

Welcome to the East Coast - wonderful place to explore. This forum is not only very friendly but really helpful as well. I have not made any of the organised events yet but hope to do so this year - I will look out for you on the water.

Welcome to Bradwell. I sail in Gitane in C48.

Bradwell is a great marina to stay in, with many locations on the East coast within range of a day sailing. Also, the staff are always very friendly and helpful and there is always someone around.

In terms of events. There is a Regatta in September. I can't remember if it is called the Maldon regatta or the Mersea regatta, but it is usually advertised in the local papers and on the internet.

Hi All,

Does anyone know who organises the pirate weekend??

Ian and Sarah

No one.
Really, no one.

There is no club, there are no rules, no committee, no organisers.
It just is. Like every other ECF do.:D

Morgana thought of it first though. He had an Arthur Ransome book in his lap at the time.

9th July, Anchor or moor off Stone Point. Bring a BBQ and dress like a Pirate. Kids go quite well at this event too.

Jim

Is 9th July the confirmed date for the Pirate weekend?
it is normally on the 1st Saturday of July.
The 9th clashes with the British F1 GP and also high tide on that day is around 7pm which would make lighting the bonfire a bit difficult.
Could I suggest that the 2nd would be a better date.
High tide around 1.15pm.
