Hi all.

I'm new to boating and indeed to the forum. For as long as I can remember, back to the corniche summer holidays as a kid, I've wanted my very own boat. Recently (30 years later I might add) I've taken the initiative and purchased a Sunseeker Daycab 23. Admittedly it needs a bit of work, but I've waited a long time for this and am ready to get stuck in.
Being new, please be prepared for a lot of what might seem like daft questions, and for that I apologise in advance. I'll be posting pictures as I go along with progress reports, right up to first day of launch ?

Okay so here she is in all of her glory. Picked her up from Bristol last weekend. She is a bit worn round the edges, but like I say, I can't wait to get stuck in.

One of the first hurdles, will be that one of the manifolds are broken and the piece lost. Not sure what to do yet, as apparently these are as rare as hens teeth!! ?

Hi there
Firstly congrats and good on you for getting involved with restoring a lovely old boat...which deserves some attention.
Hopefully you have some mechanical know how and syphathy too.
Currently replying on my phone, so it's not easy to refer constantly to your original post, but did you say what engine she has ? Presumably a VP 4.3, 5.0 or 5.7 ?
The exhaust manifold defo need replaced. As will the riser tops too. In fact I'd wager they may have already had an influence on the boats initial demise. Check for signs of water ingress in he combustion chamber and sump. Apologies if you already have !
Good luck and can't wait to hear of progress.

Hi Qbhoy.

Thanks for the reply. Currently full steam ahead with the restoration work >>> http://s1149.photobucket.com/user/Davey_Knight/library/?view=recent&page=1
The Hull and body seem to be in great shape considering the age. The old Engine installed was a GM 6.2l V8 and will be replaced with the same.
With the new and old currently removed from the boat, I'll have a few head scratching months in front of me. The plan is to rebuild the engine out of the boat and get it running before installing.
I've started removing the old Antifouling and she needs a complete re wire.

Onwards and upwards

I have a few questions:
Should I re Antifouling her?
Does anybody have any information on wiring and cooling schematics for the GM V8 Marine?
