im after something spacious, simple, robust and modernly fitted out , going fast isnt really a concern.

a few questions....

the price isnt listed so how much would i be looking to pay for that kind of boat in that condition roughly??

are there any manufacturers i should look out for that have good reputations for for something like that??

what size outboard would i need for a boat that size to get from a) to b) at around 10 knots??

many thanks for suggestions

oh and hi im new :)

The topsides look shiny and attractive but its what lurks underneath that new paint that matters.
Steel hulls rot. your own full survey should be carried out , which means getting it out of the water either by crane (doubtful) or slipping.
Suspect only a commercial yard will be able to handle that boat.
Would not rely on anybody elses assurances about condition.
Slip and survey. £2000.00 ? any insurance company will probably demand a survey regardless.

"what size outboard would i need for a boat that size to get from a) to b) at around 10 knots?? " add 25k to get an engine/ gearbox installed. ?

Cheers for your replies, OK so assuming good condition that's the kind of thing I'm looking for whats a ball park figure ud expect to pay for boat that style?

Also how much more/less would it be in glass fibre?

Any good manufacturers of this style/ length in grp that I should look out for? Simple, robust, spacious.

Fitting an engine/gearbox isn't really what I'd be looking to do, if it has one great, if not I'd rather get an outboard just for chugging around

ok so had a look at bigger Nelsons... that is the kind of thing im looking for but they arnt that spacious inside

any other makes??

also any guesses as to a ball park figure of how much the one in the link i put up would be worth?

If you only wish to potter around then a 60ft widebeam would give you the living space and the water side lifestyle you desire. It would probably be better value than the trawler style yachts that you are looking at and likely cost less in upkeep. Search, "60 ft widebeam," to get an idea of what is available. The boat you link to appears exceedingly bland inside and seems to have been given a lick of paint for sale.

As has been said, the value of a boat like the one you are looking at is often in the mooring. If you don't take the mooring it comes with then you will have to find another mooring somewhere else where they will let you live aboard before you buy it, and then move the it there. Without an engine you would need a tow or a lorry, you cannot hang an outboard over the back of that one.

A search for, "50 ft Trawler Yacht," will show you what a livable motor yacht of that style in serviceable condition would cost you.

Ah so that style is called a trawler, thanks... every day is a school day

Here was me thinking that trawlers were just scabby old fishing boats ha

So what makes them more expensive to look after than a wide beam?
Iv looked at wide beams but the upper reaches of the tamar get seriously fast in the winter and I don't think it would fare well. I also want something with the potential to go coastal which is a big no no in them Iv heard

Opinions on lifeboats?

The harding 10m ones are pretty shitty but something like a norsafe GES 50 could possibly be good? Solidly built, Hull not been immersed in salt water, low engine hours and should have been well serviced if owned by a decent outfit.
