Due to various family reasons and North wind had to leave my boat for a month in August at Crotone in Southern Italy . If anybody is interested there is a new land storage site and budding shipyard at the N Harbour at Crotone .

Very close to better part of town .

Good start off point for Ionian . Very good security for winter storage

for a 9 meter Catamaran in August €550 plus vat including lift out and lift in. €13 per day

Ask for Fabio +39 3358223803

Brother in law Speaks good English and very helpful staff Currently specialising in antifouling but have contacts with other contractors in town who can work on boats .

Also got good clean toilets shower and free laundry

Thanks for that, Crotone is ghastly and expensive, its only benefit is the diesel point on the long haul up to Adriatic from Siracusa. I tend to use La Castella as my stopover though the entrance is a little narrow.
The price you quote is about x2 that at Manoel Island (August ia fairly dead for boatyards in the Med) - their price is £M 158 for lift out and in and 9 weeks ashore end June-Begin Sep, equivalent to about €350 for a longer (but monohull) boat.

Not to bad a place now . the man with the hole in the nose has gone replaced by a nice old man . Found the people very friendly and the northern part of town is quite attractive . Greatly reaped the benifit of playing Michaels Thomas's teach yourself Italian CD's last winter however.

The new esplanade has lots of cafes and restaurants as well as fishmongers while the next street up has the usual hairdressers , bread shops and the like . Some chandlers A month in the water in the new southern marina was however €900 hence the lift out in the deserted northern commercial harbour .They however won't let you keep your boat in the water there as it is used for servicing the gas rigs .
Tried the yacht club but they were full up .
Lot of people in the new marina however waiting for Mistral to end before going north . Still wating a week later . Some really rough swell last month near rigs 2 to 3 metre waves . Just got in after beam wave broke on wheelhouse roof Left Le Castella in calm but swell appeared as rounded cape

One other benefit 2 hour train ride to Lamezia airport for cheap Ryanair flight to Stansted . Fabio even drove me to the station .

Stopped off at Le Castella . Crowded and they had no long term space . Even Rocella Ionica were refusing people anything longer than 5 days even though it was free
