SWMBO wants a new spray hood and wants it a bit longer for more shelter so that will mean new steel. Any recommendations for suppliers in the Falmouth area? Also new sailcover for the stacpac will be required.
Try Jeckells (not sure of the spelling). Although I know they are based on the East Coast, I think they work nationally as they were at the Boat Show which is where we found them. THey did a great job for us on both the sprayhood and new upholstery.
Just a thought - could your existing framework give extra shelter if the fabric was designed differently, the frame adjustment changed, or if it was moved aft slightly? A good sailmaker should be able to advise, but some may have a vested interest in selling you a new frame.
In N Wales I invited 6 sailmakers to tender for a full cockpit cover, 3 replied, 2 quoted & only one was prepared to supply what I ased for rather than what was easier to make & fit. Good luck, but do aske for several quotes, & have a look around the harbour to see who does a good job. You will learn a lot.
Hi Jimi We did exactly the same thing as the Vancouver sprayhood design was carp being fastened inside the cockpit comming and not extending far enough aft. The work was done by Slik Cut in Plymouth. The steel work was changed but only because we went the whole hog and had a cockpit cannopy made at the same time and a grab bar on the sprayhood. It was well worth it, the only problem is getting people from under it when the should be looking around
