My sprayhood is on its last legs - actually to be honest it's well past it - and I would like to replace it. What is the approximate cost of a sprayhood for a 26' yacht - nothing fancy? - I have no idea whether I am looking at £200 or £600! Hopefully closer to the former - any ideas? I would be looking to buy in the Gosport area.

Regards

Neil

I had a new sprayhood made for my Vancouver 27 by Sanders in Lymington. It's excellent quality and I'm really pleased with it, I also had a grab bar fitted to the leading edge of the frame. The total cost £680 and I think about 120 of that was for the grab rail.

HTH.

Cheers, Brian.

Most hoods in poor condition cannot be used for a pattern for replacement.
Sometimes aluminium frames distort as they are used and in time need replacement also.So starting from scratch needing a new frame and new fabric expect to pay anything from £500 to £700.
If you already have a stainless frame and the hood was a good fit and its complete with out being pulled out of shape ,and still got its windows.
You may get away with as little as £300 or up to £500.
With out the windows holding it in shape, it may be difficult to end up with the correct panel profile, so a new pattern with some one visiting the boat to repattern may be your best option.

I had a new one made to a slightly different shape along with a new frame, very pleased with the result and well worth doing, think it was around £650 ish.
Now who was it that did the job..............oh of course, Cindy from Wilkinson's :) :) :)

+1 for Undercover - they completely restitched my sprayhood a couple of years ago (the fabric was OK but it needed a new window, and all the stitching was suffering from U/V damage) and I'm sure the bill was under £100. The original manufacturers of the sprayhood, Custom Covers, weren't interested...

I had a spray hood and bimini made for £1100 by C&M Marine 4 years ago (the bimini included metal work as well). The strapping that is used to tension the sprayhood lasted 6 months before it disintegrated from UV damage and most of the stitching is now going/gone. It appears that the materials used were substandard even though they are a well known supplier. I would personally use a different supplier in future.
