I know this has been here before, but my Plastimo clock gave up, replacement, about £60, new movement, Axminster tools, £2.95 plus £1 P&P.

They sell rare earth magnets and one reviewer commented that he sticks them on his oil filter to catch any metallic residue. Wonder if they should go on the sump plug.

Try a pound shop; you'll get the hands and the rest of the clock! Or Hobbycraft, but they may be more pricey.

In the 70's a collegue visited Hong Kong. Digital Watches with LCD displays were big then. He visited a sweat shop that was pressing the cases, fitting the straps and movements. At the time the movements-including the batteries-were 5 US Dollars a Kilo. He said they were carried up the stairs to the workshop in buckets on poles over the workers shoulder.

Minis, 1100's, 1300's etc (BMC "A" series" engines) used to have one pressed into teh sump plug - caught all the chips off the gear teeth and general metallic bits from wear.

....never thought...the hands don't fit, so had to buy another complete with hands...
