New sails

I'm going to replace my sails this winter & need some recommendations.

I'm not looking for anything special, just a basic set of cruising sails that are well made and will last a few years and won't cost the earth. This is a Centaur after all.

I'm already thinking of: Kemps, Arun, Crusader.

If any one's got any other recommendadtions or experience of the above.

That's good list. If you want to spread the net, I'd include Dolphin and Jeckells.

Kemps are well spoken of by the Twister Owners Assoc.

Personally, I'd add Jeckells to your shopping list. They did my genoa, with which I am exceeding pleased.

Another vote for Kemps. V quick to deliver, v helpful with advice, useful discount as we ordered mid summer, even though we only gave them the final specs/measurements a month or so later.

I too have been very happy with the advice from Kemp and with the quality of the headsail that they built for me a year ago.

Try Seateach. Very pleased with them for cruising sails.

Richardson Sails - Hamble. Couldn't recommend them enough.

Had a fore sail from Quay sails,good cut and stiching,so impressed that A new mizzen is being "Built" to my specs, good service and very freindly and everybody who answers the phone knows what you are talking about,can`t fault them.

Try Barford Sails in Weymouth. Paul is a very experienced sailmaker. He makes good quality cruising sails at an affordable price.

Kemps

Kemps. A great family to deal with, well made sails and reasonable prices.

I was interested in Jeckells but started to get fed up that everything seemed to be an extra so the initial quote stopped sounding so good. Not that it became more expensive than say kemps, I just felt like I was being duped. My old main was Jeckells and I had no problems with build quality, I am sure they make excellent sails in fact.

Many of the French based cruisers i speak with recommend SeaTeach. I've certainly found them to be more than helpful on the phone.
