New Sailing Magazine - blimey these people have courage

Bought the current one & whilst the lead article about the oldest yacht was interesting, three quarters of the articles appeared to be about GRP boats. probably won't bother again. However yesterday subscribed to the Marine Quarterly which, having bought some back numbers, I find very readable.

I think they have decided to allow the concept that plastic boats - which are now 50 years old - are allowed to be considered classics.

"Glassics" I believe is the term.

I am reliably told that without the "memory class" the old gaffers would have closed down years ago.

No knowledge of the south coast but obviously not the case East Coast. Must be a high % of EC old gaffers more than 70 years old, and several 100 years plus. I'm sure the people at Classic Sailor have identified a market in GRP classics - it's just I'm not interested.
