I haven't seen anything in the press, but Rustler have launched a new website with new yachts. There is a 33, 37 and 58.

The 37 is the most interesting of the three and looks like a mini-Bowman more than a Rustler.

I find it amazing that they have launched three new models in the Rustler range only a short time after returning the deposits of those who had ordered the new Starlight 375. The Starlight project was put on hold because of the state of the economy!

I can only assume that they underpriced the Starlight and the Rustlers are in a different price bracket.

They havent spent much on the dwgs or specs for the 37 judging from the website, i would have thought they could have done better than this. 33 looks OK but not sure why they dont have a direct tiller to the rudder either. Looks to me like they have missed an oppurtunity here if this is the best they can offer.

On the basis that they have a 2 year old R36 on their brokerage website for well over £200k
it is difficult to imagine just how expensive the new 37 will be. Look more like Stephen Jones' Mystery 35 stretched out a bit to me. I have little doubt that it will be a brilliant boat but a HR 37 looks like a better bet!

Nice, nicer, nicest?

Maybe , maybe not surely?

They had a 3-4 year old 36 at around 165 that sold alarmingly quickly very recently.

Judging by what I saw at Southampton, I am sure they know exactly what their customers want.

That 58 has been in development for quite a while.

I know nothing about the 33 and 37. It could just be that the 37 if built will prove to be easier to build and therefore actually less costly than the older 36. Though it does at first glance look very like a-lot-of-other-white-boats-out-..Early days though, we shall see.

Could we finally have seen the beginnings of a real shift away from fat bum boats toward graceful, practicable and workable icons?

I for one wish them the very best of luck.

The 33 looks bizarre - a very traditional hull and coachroof, but with a fin & bulb keel, saildrive, spade rudder and a fractional rig!

I think it is a re-working of the Starlight 35. Look at tis image:-

Look very similar to a Starlight 35 with a different transom.

Here is the Starlight

what a mess of a product range. Even big manufacturers dont have boats so close in size let alone a small outfit like Rustler. I can only assume they are trying to use up all the moulds they have aquired / inherited rather than concentrating on a small range of old style trad boats.

I predict they will go the way of Bowman et al.

I think you are bang on with that. The extended transom extends backstay position bit more roach to the main. Cant say i like it though. The 33 is very much like a lot of crossover boats at the moment though not as pretty as some.

Well I think the new 33 looks really good. The proposed 37 looks rather heavy - I preferred the proposed Starlight 375.
