We fitted new genoa sheets and a new outhaul for the genoa furling line this season. Marlow double braid.

We have noticed that the ropes are picking occasional splinters out of the teak decks, not a problem in itself but then later when handling the ropes without gloves even coiling down after the days sailing ouch. Some might say get rid of the teak decks but that's a bit drastic!

Any thoughts.

Odd. In a couple of decades of bare teak decks I never had that happen - but teak decks ought not to be splintering anyway - problem is with the deck not the ropes I think.

Agreed. What state is your deck in ? how old ?

possibly, being new, the braid has not settled and become firm. Perhaps leaving them stretched under load over night might help to consolidate the strands and tighten them ?

Hi - I am having the same problem on a 3.5yr old Beneteau.

Did you get it resolved? What did you do? Do you do anything differently now to prevent it happening again?

Rgds,
Phil
