what kind of idiots allow such energy to be unleashed so close to whole families of human beings ? There's not the slightest chance of controlled recovery once the boat becomes airborne.

Vid 2 I think the throttleman might have been a second late backing off. It was lifting for some time.
With a cat at these speeds you do not lift off to bring the nose back down you Slam the throttles forward, the torque pushes the bow down. If a boat it running opened up and trimmed out with no throttle left, there is nothing left to do. If you pull back on the throttles you lose the torque that is pushing you forward and you kite.

What sort of engines are they using, they sound pretty throaty, not like turbines.
