New propellor issue (is this now standard?)

I have had to change props on one of my D4 260 sterndrives. She now makes a bang (like someone slapping the hull) when she goes into gear. I am told that the G4 props have been redesigned with more solid bushes (to cope with joystick control?) and this might be the reason. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Rob, I’m quite surprised that there is a serious bang if there is a bush problem. Is anything clashing? Normally a bush issue would cause prop slippage. Try a pm to VolvoPaul?

It’s the lack of slippage that causes it apparently. Having now drive the boat it is not too fierce. I have been told by two engineers that this happens with the new props.

Ok, so is it the gear backlash you’re hearing?

That sounds about right. It happens in forwards and reverse.
