Anyone have any idea where I could get a new prop for my old Evinrude (OMC) 4 HP 2-Stroke 1980 outboard (Mod# BE4BRCCS)? The current one works OK (prob original and plastic) but is too small or too short pitch. When planing my Avon Air 2.80 the propeller loses grip and the the engine overrevs. Very annoying when I want to get somewhere quick.

I think you have the model number wrong The date letters for 1980 are CS not CC which are for 1988

The only props listed are 7½" x 6" ( Al ?? ) and 7½ x 7 plastic

It appears to have a 2 part hub clutch though. The symptoms you describe are those of a spun hub. This may be your problem, not that the prop is losing its grip on the water but that the hub is slipping allowing the engine to rev without the prop spinning to match

Examine the prop hub.

Both parts are available see http://www.boats.net/parts/search/BRP/EVINRUDE/1980/E4RLCSS/GEARCASE-STANDARD DRIVE/parts.html

I would try Oakley Marine (aka Outboards Direct) in Brighton or Willsmarine in Kingsbridge for parts

Be sure to quote the correct model number when contacting them!

The same comments will apply even if a 1988 model although the part numbers are different
