New \'Poster\' requiring recommendation

Hi Everyone!

New 'Poster'

How you all doing?

Please recommend a good Power boat training school either on the south coast or the east coast, River Blackwater way.

I thank you.

What size of boat and what level course do you want to do? Two powerboat instructors post on here, and both are highly recommended. They both specialise in different size boats though.

Re: New \'Poster\' requiring recommendation

Hi Bs.

I need a boat ticket for a dive boat that I am buying, its a 7.9m Bombard, with twin Honda 90's, It comes with all the toys, GPS, Chart plotter, fish finder, Life raft, O2 giving sets, bottle rack for four sets, etc.

I have been told by the insurance company that I need a minimum of Powerboat Level 2 so as I can get cover. I then need it to be coded. So I can go out diving, a max of 20 miles out.

Thanks for your help, and anyone else who can.

Hi Sea Sprite

I must thank you for your recommendation's.

I would love to know who you are!

However,

To the point in question, Yes we are a power as well as a sail school.

We run all the power level courses, but alas it is not the done thing to 'advertise' our services on an open forum.

I am happy to assist Koolie, if he/she wishes to contact me.

Again, I thank you.

Al Jones.

Hi Al Jones

Thank you for your e-mail, and your advice.

I will accept your assistance in coding my vessel. And yes I would like to do my courses with you.

As a dive boat, taking fee paying customers on trips, can anyone confirm that the 'skipper' needs to be commercially endorsed? and is it to a minimum of 'Advanced' as I have been told?

Not that I'm checking up on you Al but it is my way to get two or three points of view.

Any divers out there wanting to help please get in touch.

I've been out on 'Trojon' out of Haslar, any other members had any experience with these?

Thanks again every one.

K.

Re: New \'Poster\' requiring recommendation

Yes - one route is RYA Advanced Powerboat - commercially endorsed
Also need VHF, First aid, Medical, and Sea survival I believe - though its a couple of years since I've looked at this and tehy change the rules failry frequently

Oh - guess what - changed again:

http://www.rya.org.uk/Courses/workingafloat/commercialadvancedpowerboatcertificates.htm

If you have an prior 2005 Advanced - you can get it commercially endorsed - othewrise you need to take an exam
Oh and I see they say you need VHF and First Aid
