I guess like most our plans for 2020 season have changed. Our intention this season was to spend a couple of months locally (Harwich area) to get familiar with our boat again( Scanmar33) We have only been saying her for one season. The intention was to then head south and explore the south coast and the West Country. we will have to now put this off to 2021. The dream then is to sail across the bay of Biscay to the Spanish Rias. We have a few seasons sailing experience all around the Harwich area but will need to complete the day skipper course and get the ICC. I have done the theory already but never got around to the practical.
So Spain 2022 well after brexit which gives us the issue of the 90 days in 180. TBH 90 days in a season is probably ok and we could then fly home leaving the boat there for the winter but this I believe then becomes an issue with vat paid ( or rather not paid ) on the boat. I suppose the other option is to sail back but ultimately we planed to venture further.
Does anyone have similar plans? How can these issues be circumvented if at all?In the meantime we are planning the first part down to Devon and Cornwall, is anyone else planning that for next year? Where are good places to anchor for free? Got to keep the costs down now we are retired?
Assuming of course we are eventually released from lockdown.
