My old o/b has decidedly died and needs to be replaced.

I am looking for a 4hp, 4 stroke model.

Any reccommendations welcome.

Get a 3.X tohatsu or merc 2 stroke while stocks last. The 4 strokes are too expensive and heavy not to mention the problems setting them down the correct way to prevent oil getting into the cylinder or running out the exhaust.
I had 2 yamaha 4 hp 4 strokes for the tenders - got rid of them and went back to the 3.3hp 2 stroke mercury (got a deal on them that worked out cheaper than the 3.5 Tohatsu before anyone starts about "rebadging" etc)

Absolutely agree. Extensive post last year resulted in me taking forums advice and buying the Tohatsu (as Cliff says the only difference is the badge)
Much lighter, very reliable and you can lay it down flat in the car boot.

Last months PBO looked at 4stroke/2 stroke and made the same recomendation here - buy the 3.5 Tohatsu 2 stroke while you can!

Happy owner of a Merc 3.3 too (like Cliff we got one on a day the Merc peeps were feeling very generous).
